Outstanding Young Artists Honored for Winning
Third Annual Water Conservation Poster Contest

San Diego - City of San Diego Mayor Dick Murphy, Councilmember Donna Frye and the entire San Diego City Council will proudly acknowledge the creative efforts of the18 elementary school students who were the winners of the Third Annual Water Conservation Poster Contest at an awards presentation, Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the City Administration Building Council Chambers. The Poster Contest, which is held each year by the City of San Diego Water Department, provides a focal point for teachers to talk with their students about the importance of conserving water. This year's theme, "Water Conservation, My Way of Life," gave thousands of student the opportunity to artistically illustrate meaningful water conservation messages.

The Mayor and City Council will present each winner with an awards package. Each awards package includes a U.S. Savings Bond, four tickets to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center and a certificate of excellence, a list of the winners is on the accompanying page. The City Administration Building is located at 202 C Street in downtown San Diego.

Winning posters will be on display May 26-30, 2003 in the lobby of the City Administration Building. In addition, the winning posters will be featured in the San Diego County Fair's Kids Best display from June 13 - July 6, 2003.
