Morena Reservoir

At 3,000 feet above sea level, Morena is the highest and most remote of the City's reservoirs. Work on the Morena Dam was begun in 1897 on Cottonwood Creek, but wasn't completed until 1912. Two years later, the City of San Diego purchased the dam. Morena is connected to the City’s Barrett Reservoir. Morena Reservoir has a water storage capacity of 50,694 acre feet. Water levels are monitored weekly.

Recreational Activities

Morena Reservoir is located in the County of San Diego's Lake Morena Regional Park. Although Morena is a City of San Diego reservoir, all recreational activities are administered by the County of San Diego.
