Housing Commission, San Diego
Investigate and improve dwelling conditions in the City of San Diego. Review and recommend revisions, actions, including recommendations on all matters before the Housing Authority. Approve plans, specifications, agreements, expenditures and such other matters as the Housing Authority may from time to time delegate by resolution to the commission.
Appointed by Mayor and confirmed by Council. Councilmembers may be appointed as members of said Commission in those membership positions other than the two (2) low-income tenant positions.
Four (4) years until their successors are appointed and qualified, except that the terms of office of the two (2) members who are tenants of Housing Authority units shall be two (2) years and as set forth in Section 34272 of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California. (Initial appointments were made so that the terms of office of two members was for four years; two members for three years; two members for two years; and one member for one year.) The expiration date of all terms shall be January 2. Appointments to fill vacancies should be for the unexpired term of the office being filled. Any member may be removed for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or misconduct in office, upon the affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the City Council, at any time.
Seven (7) members, including two tenants of housing program, one over 62. Each member is prohibited from engaging in any activity which could result in conflict of interest and must make an annual statement of financial disclosure.
