The USS San Diego is a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, and the fourth ship of the United States Navy to be named for the city of San Diego. The ship is designed to deliver a fully equipped Marine battalion of 699 officers and enlisted men. This was presented to the Mayor by Captain John Menoni, U.S. Navy Commanding Officer, as a congratulatory gift on May 28, 2014.
