The Civil Litigation and Civil Advisory Divisions are accepting applications from those associates who have been hired by law firms but have been given deferred start dates, and may receive a monthly stipend to perform public service.

Job Description

Deferred associates will complete research and writing assignments in a variety of practice areas including, Municipal Law, Land Use, Litigation, Contracts, Civil Rights, Labor & Employment, Public Works, Utilities, etc. They will be exposed to the inner-workings of Municipal Government by attending City Council and Council Committee Meetings. In addition, when available, they will be encouraged to attend depositions, court and administrative hearings, trials, and other proceedings. They may be given other opportunities depending upon training and experience.

Qualifications

The Civil Division is looking for deferred law firm associates who are interested in working in a variety of practice areas and can commit to at least 20 hrs per week (start and end dates are flexible). We will be considering applicants in the top 50% of their class and at least a 3.0 GPA.
