
Lucero Chavez is currently serving as Director of Policy for Councilmember Jennifer Campbell. Previously, Lucero served as the Director of Policy and Partnerships in the External Relations Department at the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE), leading proactive state and regional policy change, building support for family engagement initiatives, and supporting regional, state, and national education reform. Prior to PIQE, Lucero Chavez worked for the State of California as a District Field Representative in the California State Assembly where she helped lead their Legislative Internship Program, provided constituent services, administrative management, policy areas like environment, housing, and transportation, and developing other district-wide initiatives. She was formerly an intern at the State Assembly and the House of Representatives.
Lucero is passionate about community advancement. She is a MANA de San Diego Board Member, a graduate of the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) Leadership Institute (HLI); and trained as part of the American Civil Liberties Union’s (ACLU) “Know Your Rights Ambassador Program”, among other community engagement activities.
Lucero was raised in San Diego County and attended the University of San Diego where she graduated with honors with a B.A. in International Relations with a minor in Sociology. Lucero loves spending time with her family and pets, dancing, traveling, and finding new food spots in San Diego.
