11th and Island Crosswalks

Piazza Della Famiglia/ Piazza de Giannini opening
Councilmember Ward joined residents of Little Italy in celebrating the official opening of Piazza Della Famiglia and Piazza de Giannini. At the Piazza Della Famiglia, what was formerly an ordinary street has become an activated space that is home to farmers’ markets, countless food options, premiere residences, and wine you can drink anywhere.
Gaslamp 5th and Market Sign
The Gaslamp Quarter is the iconic entertainment district of Downtown San Diego and for locals or visitors using the diagonal crosswalk at 5th and Market, the Gaslamp Quarter logo in the center of the intersection is a reminder that you’re in the heart of the neighborhood. Over time the sign had faded and our office helped the Gaslamp Quarter Association align the resources necessary to repaint and restore the logo.
Gaslamp Historic Street Sign Updates
Councilmember Ward worked with City staff and the Gaslamp Quarter Association to install historic street signs in the Gaslamp community.

Fire Station #2
Opened the new Bayside Fire Station # 2 in Little Italy on-time and under budget. With this new facility, we will be able to deliver quality public safety services and ensure the vibrancy of the densest urban communities where thousands of San Diegans live, work, and play.

Working with downtown residents and pedicab companies, Councilmember Ward updated regulations to create uniform standards for licensed operators, reduce neighborhood noise and other nuisance impacts, reduce price gouging, and improve customer experiences.
