Councilmember Ward in Golden Hill
  • 30th Street Pipeline Replacement Project
    • The 30th Street Pipeline Replacement Project replaced approximately 5.7 miles of water distribution mains within the North Park, Golden Hill, and Southeastern communities. Construction in South Park has been completed. High lines have either been removed, or will be removed shortly.
  • Stop Sign Installation at 28th and Cedar
    • Councilmember Ward, working with the local Golden Hill Community Planning Committee, pushed for the successful installation of a stop sign at 28th Street and Cedar Street.
  • Golden Hill Park Basketball Courts Re-surfaced
    • Re-surfaced the outdoor basketball courts at the Golden Hill Recreation Center, bringing the facility up to quality standards for residents.
  • Tree Planting at 28th Street Park
    • As part of its Urban Forest initiative, the Balboa Park Conservancy and the City of San Diego planted 100 trees in Balboa Park along 28th Street to provide additional canopy to the neighborhoods of South Park and Golden Hill.
  • Undergrounding district block 8A
    • Four square blocks of utilities were undergrounded in Golden Hill and streets were subsequently re-paved. Undergrounding will improve service reliability, public safety and will enhance the aesthetics of the Golden Hill community.
  • Golden Hill Recreation Center Clubhouse garden funding
    • Funded community center improvements for children to learn more about gardening and plants through Community Projects, Programs and Services (CPPS) funding.
  • Community clean-ups in Golden Hill and South Park
    • Community clean ups are a great way for neighbors to care for and show pride in their communities. In 2018, Councilmember Ward's office has participated in six community clean-ups in the Golden Hill and South Park area.
  • RRFB at 25th and E Street
    • Councilmember Ward worked to have Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacons (RRFB) installed at 25th and E Street. RRFB’s enhance safety by reducing crashes between vehicles and pedestrians at unsignalized intersections and mid-block pedestrian crossings by increasing driver awareness of potential pedestrian conflicts.
  • 30th Street Pipeline Replacement
    • The 30th Street Pipeline Replacement Project will replace approximately 5.7 miles of water distribution mains within the North Park, Golden Hill, and Southeastern communities. From 30th Street in the north to Commercial Street in the south. This project is expected to be completed in July 2020.
  • 32nd Street Canyon Improvements
    • Helped remove a dead tree and fix a sewer line leading to the neighboring 32nd Street canyon. Resolved brush abatement issues related to fire safety for residents living adjacent to the canyon.
  • Leon Williams Street Dedication
    • Dedicated the 3000  block of E Street in Golden Hill to former San Diego County Supervisor Leon Williams, and presented Leon Williams with a proclamation in the City Council chambers, honoring him for his work towards making San Diego a better place for all.
