The City of San Diego’s Earned Sick Leave and Minimum Wage Ordinance was approved on June 7, 2016 and went into effect on July 11, 2016. The City’s minimum wage is $10.50 per hour and employers are required to provide at least five days of earned sick leave to all employees doing work within the City's boundaries. On January 1, 2017 the City of San Diego's minimum wage will be $11.50. On January 1, 2019, and every year thereafter, the City of San Diego's minimum wage will be tied to the Consumer Price Index.
