Director of Business and Community Projects
Anthony Bernal, a resident of Downtown, brings a variety of experience from both the private and non-profit sectors. Prior to working for Councilmember Gloria, he was a Project Manager for public utility projects at a locally-owned engineering design/construction management firm. He also previously managed a branch for a financial institution and worked with an affiliate of National Council of La Raza addressing issues affecting the Latino community.
Anthony earned his undergraduate degree from University of the Pacific in Stockton. He served as a member of the Human Rights Campaign San Diego Steering Committee, and currently serves as a member of the Cortez Hill Active Residents Group and as President of the San Diego Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter. On the weekends, you will find him volunteering for community cleanups and festivals and competing in half marathons.
Anthony serves as Councilmember Gloria's representative to the Downtown neighborhood. He works on issues related to public utilities, public works, healthcare, and parks and recreation.
