This morning I paid a visit to the Monarch School for homeless students. With the help of redevelopment, this amazing place is set to expand from 10,000 sq feet serving 140 students to a new 50,000 sq foot facility serving over 300 children. Learn more at www.monarchschools.org.

Construction has begun at the Jefferson Elementary School Joint Use Park. When completed in 2012, this will add needed park space for the people of North Park. And not to worry, we're still working hard with our partners at the San Diego Unified School District to create similar opportunities at Normal Heights and McKinley Elementary schools in D3.

The San Diego Redistricting Commission approved new City Council District boundaries last night. It modifies District 3 by removing City Heights, Kensington and Talmadge and adding Mission Hills, Old Town, Bankers Hill, Park West and all of Downtown.
