Perri Storey grew up in Detroit where she received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations. For graduate studies, Perri focused on Public Administration. Perri has a servant’s heart and spent over twenty years working in local government. After working for the City of Detroit for 13 years, Perri moved to San Diego and began her career with the City of San Diego as a Senior Public Information Officer with Engineering and Capital Projects. Perri served under four mayoral administrations: Jerry Sanders, Bob Filner, Interim Mayor Todd Gloria and Kevin Faulconer. Shortly after relocating to San Diego and with a desire to serve the fatherless, Perri started the “Never Knew a Father’s Love” non-profit organization and for her work in the community and for her service to the fatherless, Perri was recognized as Rock Hero by the Rock Church.

With a desire to work for the first African American Woman elected to the San Diego City Council, Perri served as the Communications Director for Councilmember Myrtle Cole. During her tenure as Communications Director, Perri was bitten by the travel bug. After resigning her position with Councilmember Cole, Perri started the travel bum diaries travel blog. Perri then moved to Europe for a year-long travel sabbatical visiting over 18 countries including Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Austria and Egypt. After returning from her travel sabbatical, Perri went to the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, graduating first in her class and served as a Detention Deputy with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. As a Deputy, Perri was recognized as Detention Deputy of the Quarter for finding contraband in her housing unit on three different occasions and was nominated for Deputy of the Year. With a passion to serve the fatherless and help the community, Perri serves as the Communications Director for “the People’s Councilmember” and will focus on amplifying the voice of our community at city hall, across social media platforms and to the media.
