Councilman Kersey is committed to creating an environment at City Hall that encourages civic engagement through open data and public input.
Open data is about bringing government closer to the people via technology. The City has a wealth of knowledge locked up in its computers. By putting that data online and making it searchable by the public, others can develop applications and tools that will help create a more engaged citizen. Councilman Kersey spearheaded the City's open data efforts, which has resulted in the new data.sandiego.gov.
Mark values the input of every citizen and has a robust public input program that makes him accessible via social media and in person. The City is also now more accessible thanks to Councilman Kersey's 3-1-1 program proposal. The new "Get it Done" app launched in 2016, provides residents with the ability to report issues in their community and track the City's progress toward solving them.
