District 7 resident Robert Mazeika is the Exchange Club of San Diego's Volunteer of the Year!

In a ceremony on December 8th, the Exchange Club of San Diego hosted their annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at Tom Ham's Lighthouse. Exchange Clubs help members develop leadership, network, and improve the quality of life in their communities.

Councilmember Marti Emerald presented commendations to the six volunteers who were nominated for this prestigious award. Mr.Mazeika is a real standout, serving with the RSVP Program in the senior volunteer patrol unit in the San Diego Police Department's Eastern Division since 2004. In 2008, Bob assumed the position of program administrator, overseeing more than 50 other volunteers, including scheduling, training and serving on the Division's management team. Bob also worked with Police Community Relations to co-develop a project to track commercial burglaries, where laptop computers are stolen from government contractors, which has sparked the interest of the FBI.

Congratulations, Bob, and thanks for helping make District 7 such a great place to live!
