Grossmont Community College Parking Structure Grand Opening
For the past year, people in the Lake Murray/San Carlos neighborhoods in City Council District 7 have had to deal with student overflow-parking from Grossmont Community College. But those days should be coming to an end. Just in time for the beginning of the fall semester, a new, 3-story parking structure is open, offering nearly 15-hundred parking spaces for students, staff, faculty and visitors, with plenty of spaces designated for disabled parking.
Councilmember Marti Emerald was on hand for the grand opening, complimenting Grossmont Community College for getting the structure completed on time and under budget.
The College asks for a bit of patience as they work out some of the kinks of a new semester, including the fact that many of the students don't know the structure is there and is for their use. The College is working on getting that word out ASAP. And a bonus for students is the parking fees for the new structure are waved for the first 2 weeks. The structure is located on the east side of the campus and has about 8-hundred more spaces than the old parking lot.
