Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships

-

The 45th Annual Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships consists of two races. A girls 5K and a boys 5K. Each race has 40 high school contestants who had to qualify through four regional races throughout the country. The top 10 individuals in each region qualify for the national championships with the goal of being crowned the National High School Cross Country Champion. The races take place on the famed National Cross country Course at Balboa Park's Morley Field.

Location: The 5k is a double loop course in which the start is just west of Joe Schloss Way and south of the Pentaquedrome Club. The course heads west around the dog park and returns along the south side of the tennis courts. It then continues around the pool, across Joe Schloss way crossing Jacaranda and then heading up to the top of the hill and then down the dirt path along Upas Street. Then back across Jacaranda and then Joe Schloss Way. That loop is 1.5 miles. The loop is repeated a second time in which the runners then finish south of the pool and north of the soccer/baseball fields.
