Councilmember Chris Cate and the City of San Diego’s Environmental Services Department invite you to drop off your pumpkins, carved or whole, to be composted! The City of San Diego has adopted waste diversion goals aimed at reaching Zero Waste by the year 2040, and we encourage families to participate.
*Clean, unpainted pumpkins only—no candles, trash, or décor accepted
If you are unable to participate in this composting pilot program, your pumpkin can be deposited in your yard waste container. Although it is not in line with Zero Waste goals, pumpkins may be deposited in your BLACK bin if you do not have that service. For other options, please visit recyclingworks.com
