Commissioner Donald Johnson is U.S. Navy veteran and law student at the California Western School of Law. He volunteers his time to make a positive impact in the community by coaching youth through fellowship and basketball.
Johnson lost countless childhood friends due to adversity and gang-related violence while growing up in Los Angeles. He graduated from Dominguez High School in Compton, Calif., and obtained a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and criminal justice from Point Loma Nazarene University. He served as a counselor for the Big Brothers Club and adviser for the “Greater Peace-New Life” program. The program provides supportive relationships and mentorship for incarcerated youth to reduce gang-related crime, violence and recidivism.
