The City of San Diego plays an active role in addressing the needs of its homeless citizens. While the City helps fund a variety of homeless services, it does not provide direct assistance. For specific shelter and service information, call the homeless service agencies directly or call 2-1-1.

Day Center Services
Homeless individuals may also visit the Neil Good Day Center (Day Center) located at 299 17th Street in downtown San Diego. At the Day Center, homeless individuals are evaluated based upon the San Diego Vulnerability Index & Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool (VI-SPDAT), which will help provide access to homeless services within the San Diego region. The Day Center serves as a point-of-entry to a variety of homeless services in San Diego. The San Diego Housing Commission currently administers the City's homeless shelters and programs on behalf of the City and has requested that donations for homeless programs be directed to the United Way of San Diego County.
Individuals or groups who wish to contribute directly to a specific program or service provider can explore the list of regional homeless and services providers by dialing 2-1-1 or visiting 211 San Diego.
