Transitional Storage (Check-In) Center
The Transitional Storage Center, also known as the Check-In Center, provides clean bins to over 300 homeless individuals to temporarily store their belongings. The Check-In Center offers a place for homeless families and individuals to safely store their personal belongings as they search for employment, attend classes, or meet with a service and medical providers while freeing the streets of almost 30,000 pounds of personal belongings. The Check-In Center, which is funded by the City of San Diego, is currently operated by Think Dignity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing basic human dignity by ensuring that homeless individuals and families have access to basic needs as they begin the transition back to housing.
The Check-In Center is located at 252 16th St. in downtown San Diego. There are approximately 350 bins in use.
For more information on the Transitional Storage Center Program, please visit the Think Dignity website. The Check-In Center is open Monday through Friday, from 7 to 11 a.m. and from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to noon. Homeless individuals who are interested in acquiring a bin can visit the Check-In Center during operating hours and put their name on the waiting list.
