Faulconer Places Friendly Wager on SDSU/NDSU Game

San Diego and Fargo mayors wager hometown brews on NCAA matchup

San Diego - Today San Diego Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer and Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker have agreed to a friendly wager on the outcome of Saturday's NCAA tournament game between San Diego State University and North Dakota State University.

Faulconer, a San Diego State alumnus, will send a six-pack of Stone Go To IPA, the newest year-round release from San Diego-based Stone Brewing Co., to Walaker should his beloved Aztecs fall to the Bison. Walaker, a North Dakota State alumnus, will send a six-pack of Fargo Brewing Co.'s Wood Chipper IPA to Faulconer should his team lose.

"Unfortunately I can't wager our beautiful weather so the next best thing is a sample from our fantastic craft beer industry," Faulconer said. "I congratulate the Bison on their first ever win in the NCAA tourney. I'd be rooting for them on Saturday if they were playing anybody other than my Aztecs."

Walaker noted both teams played overtime thrillers on Thursday to create this second-round matchup. "Both games were enjoyable and we hope that continues on Saturday night," Walaker said

Stone Go To IPA is "a vibrant hop-bursted session IPA" and a perfect representation of the classic style that has put San Diego's craft beer industry on the map. Stone is also opening a Stone Brewing Tap Room at Petco Park's "Park at the Park" on Tuesday. The facility will serve Stone beer on tap as well as signature flatbreads made with produce grown locally at Stone Farms. It's the company's second downtown San Diego location joining the Stone Company Store at Kettner Boulevard.

The fourth-seeded Aztecs take on the 12th-seeded Bison Saturday at approximately 3:10 p.m. Pacific.
