Mayors Lead More Than 80 Cali-Baja Business and Community Leaders in Advocating for Mega-Region Economy & Infrastructure in Mexico's Capitol

Working collaboratively to promote our San Diego-Tijuana mega-region, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer is teaming up with Tijuana Mayor Jorge Astiazarán and President and CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber Jerry Sanders to host the 11th Annual California-Mexico Trade Initiative and delegation trip to Mexico City.
Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer said, “Every day, our two cities are forging stronger bonds that shine a positive light on the relationship between the United States and Mexico. The relationships we’ve built over the years can and should be a model for binational communities across the globe, which is evidenced by our joint delegation trip this week.”
Jerry Sanders, President and CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber said, “The strong, unified voice of San Diego and Baja leaders joining our annual delegation trip to Mexico City speaks volumes for the commitment to collaboration that is making our region a top global competitor. We are creating a unique opportunity for dialogue with the leadership in Mexico City, which is essential for our binational region because the positive impacts of our region’s cross-border commerce don’t always reach that level.”
Through April 20, Mayors Faulconer and Astiazarán are leading the largest binational delegation to take the trip, which includes over 150 people, to Mexico City in more than a decade. This San Diego Regional Chamber trip will also be the first time Mayors Faulconer and Astiazarán travel together. Other notable delegates include:

Overall, the trip will help strengthen cross-border ties and showcase the region’s collaboration and global competitiveness. Faulconer and Astiazarán will meet with top Mexican government officials and agencies to help advance current issues and projects including border infrastructure, economic development, renewable energy projects, investment in telecommunications and tourism.
