Faulconer Hosts “Mayor’s Luncheon” Benefitting the United Negro College Fund

San Diego, CA – As the City of San Diego celebrates the great achievements of African Americans throughout American history during Black History Month, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer hosted a luncheon benefitting the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).
UNCF is the nation’s largest minority education organization that supports students’ education through scholarships and other programs. UNCF also works to strengthen Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by advocating for the importance of minority education and college readiness.
In the 2013-2014 academic year, UNCF supported nearly 400 students in the Greater San Diego area. Nationally, UNCF supports more than 10,000 scholarships per year under more than 400 programs to students at 900 colleges and universities across the country.
