Friday, October 9, 2015 - NEWS RELEASE
San Diego, CA – Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer joined Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins and other dignitaries today for the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the final phase of the Veterans Village of San Diego’s campus redevelopment project.
The final phase includes the addition of Hickman Hall, which will provide housing for female veterans, as well as a dental clinic for low-income families run by the San Diego Dental Health Foundation.
The Veterans Village of San Diego campus – developed in several phases over the past 15 years – offers services to homeless veterans using a “Housing Plus” model, which layers services on top of emergency and transitional housing. The organization serves more than 2,000 veterans each year by offering housing, food, clothing, substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, job training, job search assistance and legal services.
