Mayor Faulconer, Supervisor Jacob Launch Unprecedented Local Effort to Combat Alzheimer’s
Collaboration4Cure to Connect San Diego Researchers & Scientists with Resources to Find a Cure

San Diego, CA – Leading the charge against the only disease among the top 10 causes of death in America that has no treatment or cure, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer, Supervisor Diane Jacob, the Alzheimer’s Association San Diego and a host of researchers from UC San Diego and Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute announced today an unprecedented effort to cure Alzheimer’s.
During the news conference, Mayor Faulconer and Supervisor Jacob discussed Collaboration4Cure, an innovative local grant program, which will screen, select and fund eight world-class researchers to pursue global breakthroughs, treatments and cures to Alzheimer’s. Selected researchers will be given access to drug-screening robots and other resources available at Sanford Burnham Prebys and the Scripps Research Institute.
