Project Homeless Connect: 200 Volunteers Assisting Homeless Individuals & Veterans with a Variety of Services

San Diego – Following his State of the City pledge to help more homeless individuals transition off the streets, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer held a media availability with San Diego Housing Commission President & CEO Rick Gentry at the 10th annual Project Homeless Connect, a one-day resource fair to connect homeless individuals and veterans with the services they need.

Mayor Faulconer serves as honorary chair for Project Homeless Connect, which was open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fair had more than 80 service providers and 200 volunteers helping hundreds of homeless San Diegans with services including:

  • Medical, vision and dental screenings
  • Mental health and substance abuse referrals
  • Housing, employment and legal counseling
  • Flu shots
  • Haircuts
  • Hot meals

The San Diego Housing Commission is the lead organizer of Project Homeless Connect in partnership with the City of San Diego, Father Joe’s Villages, Interfaith Shelter Network and Family Health Centers of San Diego.
