San Diego, CA – Mayor Kevin Faulconer joined San Diego community, civic, cultural and technology leaders today to break ground on IDEA1, San Diego’s newest innovation corridor in the Upper East Village, as known as the Innovation Design Education and Arts (I.D.E.A.) District.
The $90 million project is a pivotal development in the area bringing a mix of apartments, live and work lofts, restaurants, retail, and creative office space built around The Hub, which is an open communal gathering space for San Diego innovators. IDEA1 will occupy an entire city block bounded by an original artistic design, or Visual Asylum, which will be constructed by students from the City College Graphic design program, Urban Discovery Academy and New School of Architecture and Design.
