Saturday, March 21, 2014 - NEWS RELEASE

San Diego, CA – This morning, Mayor Kevin Faulconer celebrated the 100th anniversary of a crown jewel in San Diego culture, Mission Beach, at a plaque and monument dedication ceremony. The event was the first of a year-long list of events that celebrate the Mission Beach Centennial.

A community built on a sandbar between the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay, Mission Beach spans two miles of ocean front. In June of 1914, the official subdivision map of Mission Beach was surveyed. The Common Council of San Diego adopted the first official map of Mission Beach on December 14, 1914.
