Mayor Commemorates World AIDS Day at 24th-Annual Tree of Life Ceremony

San Diego, CA – To commemorate World AIDS Day and honor those who have had their lives changed by HIV and AIDS, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer joined more than 200 community members for a Tree of Life tree lighting ceremony.

The 24th-annual event was hosted by Mama’s Kitchen and sponsored by AIDS Healthcare Foundation to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS. Mama’s Kitchen recently celebrated its 25th anniversary of delivering daily meals to hundreds individuals affected by AIDS or cancer.

The program included a candle lighting ceremony, trees decorated with ornaments to honor those who have been affected by AIDS, a performance by the Gay Men’s Chorus of San Diego and a food drive to benefit the Mama’s Pantry program.
