SAN DIEGO – From May 9-11, 2016, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer and UC San Diego are putting  the city on a national stage by co-hosting leaders from more than 35 cities and universities across America in San Diego for the first MetroLab Network Spring Summit, a White House Smart Cities Initiative.

MetroLab Network is a national network of more than 35 city-university (and county-university) partnerships focused on bringing innovation, data and analytics to government.  Its university partners serve as research and development arms while its cities serve as testbeds to deploy innovative solutions to various urban transportation, planning and infrastructure issues.  The MetroLab Network was launched by 21 founding city-university pairs, including the City of San Diego and UC San Diego in September 2015 at the White House as part of the Obama Administration’s Smart Cities Initiative. This is MetroLab Network’s first network-wide event since its launch.
