San Diego Mayor Faulconer Swings into Action & Kicks Off Comic-Con Over Gotham City

Thursday, July 24, 2014 - NEWS RELEASE

SAN DIEGO – Swinging in over a backdrop that resembled the gritty cityscape of FOX’s new series Gotham, the dynamic duo of San Diego Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer and City Council President Todd Gloria joined Comic-Con Executive David Glanzer to kick off the world’s largest gathering of dedicated comics, movie and science-fiction fanatics at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Since the 1970s, Comic-Con has been a main attraction among the City of San Diego’s events. The first three-day Comic-Con was held at the U.S. Grant Hotel, where over 300 attendees packed the hotel’s basement featuring programs, panels, film screenings and more to celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of comics to art and culture.
