SAN DIEGO – This morning, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer and California Speaker Toni Atkins led a news conference to unveil an annual study that details the military and defense community contributions to the San Diego region. They were joined by Chairman Howard P. “Buck” McKeon of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, Jamie Moraga of the San Diego Military Advisory Council (SDMAC), RADM Patrick Lorge of the Navy Region Southwest and other federal, state and local leaders.

The SDMAC report, produced by Point Loma Nazarene’s Fermanian Business and Economic Institute, is widely recognized as the authoritative and comprehensive source for the military community and defense industry cluster’s economic impact on the San Diego region. The report shows how the military and defense community contributes to the San Diego region from direct spending dollars, Gross Regional Product (GRP) dollars, regional employment, veterans’ benefits, procurement contracts and more.
