San Diego & Tijuana Mayors Kickoff 3-Part Cross-Border Tour for Regional Jobs & Opportunities
Faulconer, Astiazarán Tout the Strength of Binational Mega Region's Industries

Tijuana, MX – Working to raise global presence of San Diego-Tijuana mega-region, San Diego Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer and Tijuana Mayor Jorge Astiazarán teamed up to promote the combined powerhouse economy of the San Diego mega-region.
Mayor Faulconer said, “Mayor Astiazarán and I both understand that our border is a mega-opportunity for our mega-region. Together, we will continue to promote cross-border jobs, businesses and technologies to help provide more quality jobs for our residents. Please join us as we promote some of San Diego’s innovative ideas that have turned into innovative new products in Tijuana.”
Mayor Astiazarán said, “It is important to create the right conditions to optimize trade and tourism of the Tijuana-San Diego region, so that together the Mayor of San Diego, Kevin Faulconer and I will continue to promote the various benefits of our region, to increase the economic benefits of both cities.”
Everyday more than 500,000 vehicles cross into San Diego from Tijuana carrying innovative new products that were developed in San Diego and manufactured in Baja California, Mexico. Today, Mayors Faulconer and Astiazarán toured Kyocera and Plantronics as a part of a larger effort to attract greater investment and opportunities to the San Diego-Tijuana mega region. Following the tour, the mayors will hold two more tours of the medical device and aerospace industries.
