Washington, D.C. – To promote the San Diego region’s global competitiveness and innovation economy, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer participated in an interactive forum with London Mayor Boris Johnson, which was broadcast live via the Brookings Institution.
Moderated by Bruce Katz, founder of the Global Cities Initiative at the Brookings Institution, the forum focused on synergies between the two metropolitan areas and tactics for promoting innovation. In addition, Mayor Faulconer discussed strategies to support global trade sectors, boost export and foreign investment, enhance infrastructure for globalization, promote advanced innovation sectors and leverage San Diego’s talent pool.
As part of his commitment to creating more job opportunities for all San Diegans, Mayor Faulconer wants to increase San Diego’s international profile by collaborating with other world-class cities to ensure the regional economy continues to thrive. Working with the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp., Mayor Faulconer and numerous other regional partners will be releasing a comprehensive global trade and investment plan on March 11. The plan will be published by the Brookings Institution.
