Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant

The City of San Diego's Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant has a Modified Permit (also known as the "waiver") to treat the region's wastewater at an Advanced Primary Treatment level and to discharge the treated wastewater into the ocean through a 4.5 mile long outfall. The waiver must be renewed every five years. This is a provision of the Ocean Pollution Reduction Act. The next renewal is due in June 2008.
