The UC San Diego Office of Innovation and Commercialization (OIC) is part of the Office of Research Affairs. The OIC has established a campus-wide innovation platform to build a systemic and sustainable innovation culture, to create a vibrant regional ecosystem, and to accelerate the commercialization of campus inventions. MystartupXX is a diversity-driven accelerator program run by the Rady School of Management and Jacobs School of Engineering. The program supports the entrepreneurial goals of women and others who are traditionally underrepresented in entrepreneurship programs.
StartR is a nonprofit accelerator for MBA students and alumni at the Rady School of Management. This free six-month program is designed to provide entrepreneurs the tools needed to start and grow their businesses.
Veteran Entrepreneur Initiative is a UC San Diego accelerator and Certificate in Entrepreneurship program, operated through the Office of Research Affairs; and Veteran Ventures and Rady School of Management. In a truly non-traditional move, veterans are not required to have any affiliation with UC San Diego and tuition is free.
Von Liebig Entrepreneurism Center at the Jacobs School of Engineering provides an integrated approach to help university innovators bring their ideas to market through education, mentorship and access to funding.
Accelerating Innovations to Market (AIM) Program is coordinated by the Office of Innovation and Commercialization, AIM invests in milestone-based projects that develop proof-of-concept and de-risk early-stage technologies. UC San Diego graduate students, postdoctoral associates, researchers and faculty are provided up to 12-month awards in two tracks: 1) software-based technologies, and 2) devices and materials. The program provides additional opportunities to build industry relationships and move technologies toward commercial application.
Frontiers of Innovation Scholars Program offers fellowship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdoctoral scholars conducting multidisciplinary research that aligns with UC San Diego’s strategic goals.
