Barbara Lamb is a Program Manager in the Performance & Analytics Department. She helps the City improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations with tools that include Lean Six Sigma, San Diego Works, process reengineering, efficiency studies, and managed competition.
Barbara has a background in shipbuilding, where her duties ranged from coordinating trade activities during ship construction to reporting to the company president regarding the program that she managed. Barbara also provided management consulting services to companies in the industries of intermodal transportation, shipbuilding, heavy manufacturing, and travel. Her consulting work focused on strategic planning, competitive analysis, quality management, process improvement, proposal development, and project management.
Barbara has a bachelor of science in engineering degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Business Administration degree from San Diego State University. She is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt through UC San Diego Extension.
Barbara is also a volunteer leader with nonprofit organizations, serving on various boards of directors, including Girl Scouts San Diego, MADCAPS, LEAD San Diego Alumni Association, and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.
