Our Mission

The Friends was established to raise, distribute and assist in the management of public and private sector funds for enhancements to City of San Diego park facilities and recreation programs.

Thousands of San Diegans enjoy our community parks and recreation centers ever year, as well as the many activities and programs designed to serve their interests. In response to the growing desire for more beautiful parks and additional recreation programs, the charitable nonprofit San Diego Friends of Parks and Recreation Foundation (Friends) was established.

Through memberships, tax-deductible donations, a fund-raising golf tournament and other events, the Friends provide matching funds to community groups and local park advisory recreation councils for general park improvements, and recreation activities. Funds have been allocated toward portable swimming pools, uniforms for youth sports leagues, handbikes for the Disabled Services Program, and a host of other programming and individual park needs.

The Friends invite you to become a member, as well as an active participant in this growing organization. If you're interested mail your membership in today. Every dollar goes into the City of San Diego's park system.
