PLAY (Participation, Learning and Appreciation of Youth) Golf is the City's junior golf initiative designed to introduce boys and girls ages 3-17, to the game of golf and build character skills in a fun, engaging and non-intimidating environment.

Introductory level programming takes place at select City recreation centers, with advanced classes being held at City operated golf properties (Mission Bay, Balboa Park and Torrey Pines). Programming is low cost in an effort to give all children a chance to learn the game and is taught by Golf Division staff and professional golf instructors. Class sizes are typically limited to ensure all participants are receiving individual attention and quality instruction.

The program offers three levels with higher levels building on skills learned at lower levels. Participants must demonstrate proficiency in skills and interest in order to advance to higher level classes.
