Design Assistance Subcommittee

The City of San Diego Historical Resources Board's Design Assistance Subcommittee (DAS) is comprised largely of Boardmembers with professional design experience, including architecture, landscape architecture and design. The purpose of the Subcommittee is to provide assistance to owners of historically designated properties in the design of projects impacting designated historical resources; and to advise property owners and HRB staff on a project’s consistency with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. For more information on the DAS, including meeting dates, submittal requirements, and the scope of DAS review, please view the Informational Handout.

The DAS is responsible for reviewing projects impacting designated historical resources and properties which are actively pursuing designation. The DAS will no longer review properties which are not designated and are not pursuing designation. Read the memo

To request that your project be docketed for review by the DAS, please fill out and submit a Project Design Assistance Request Form with the required attachments.

The Design Assistance Subcommittee meets the first Wednesday of the month from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m., depending upon the number of items on the docket and their complexity. Meetings are held at 1222 First Avenue, San Diego CA 92101 on the 5th floor in Conference Room 5C.
