Youth Sports

Registration is now open for co-ed youth baseball (ages 8-15 years) and girls softball (ages 9-15 years).

The youth sports program offers an affordable introduction to competitive sports throughout the year. This includes flag football (fall), basketball (winter) and soccer/volleyball (spring).

Parks Fit San Diego

We challenge all San Diegans to walk/run 30 miles or swim 20 miles at a City park or swimming pool. The challenge culminates with a 5K family run at NTC Park in Liberty Station on August 22.

Sign-up at any City Recreation Center or swimming pool and start getting fit in the park. Use the enclosed form to track your miles and submit the Parks Fit Tracking Sheet.

PLAY Golf

This two-week program is for children ages 7 to 12 who want a fun introduction to the fundamentals of golf.

It is offered at Ocean Beach, Penn Athletic Field, Encanto and Cabrillo Recreation Centers starting July 20.

2015 CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION - GARDEN PARTY OF THE CENTURY

Celebrate 100 years of history and horticulture as the Park and Recreation Department presents the Garden Party of the Century. Everyone is invited to enjoy this ALL DAY event featuring a Kid's Floral Wagon Parade, Military Commemorative Plant Exchange, San Diego Floral Show, Balboa Park painters and artisans, garden tours, and horticulture demonstrations.

2015 CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION - KID'S FLORAL WAGON PARADE

Be a part of history! Children, families, and community groups are welcome to decorate a wagon in a floral theme to be pulled from Spanish Village to the Plaza De Panama along El Prado in Balboa Park as part of the Garden Party of the Century.

Civic Dance

The Civic Dance Arts program teaches the basics of ballet, jazz, tap and theatre dance technique to more than 3,000 children and adults of all ages.

Classes are $48 for 8 to 10-week sessions and are offered at 21 Recreation Centers throughout the City.

Outdoor Adventures

Children can connect with nature through hiking, camping, fishing, nature walks, marine explorations and ranger-lead activities.

Weekly nature camps are offered at the Montgomery Waller, City Heights, Willie Henderson, Skyline, Adams and Encanto Recreation Centers.

The cost is $15 per week for children ages 7 to 12 years (field trips included).

The Park and Recreation Department is hosting a variety of events to celebrate spring. Whether searching for eggs, or taking photos with a friendly bunny, our staff has planned fun and entertaining activities at a recreation center near you. Bring the entire family - you’ll be glad you did!

Teen Nite

This free drop-in program provides teens (ages 12 to 17 years) with a variety of free activities as well as dinner and field trips to Padres games, bowling, rock climbing and other fun attractions.

Teen Nite is offered on Fridays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. from July 10 to August 28. The program is offered at Linda Vista, Golden Hill, South Bay, Paradise Hills, San Ysidro, City Heights, Southcrest, Encanto, Memorial and Mountain View Recreation Centers.

Book Nook

In partnership with the San Diego City Library, the City of San Diego recreation centers offer a "Book Nook" lending libraries.

Area residents are encouraged to 'exercise' their minds as well as their bodies.

La Jolla Recreation Center Centennial Celebration

The La Jolla Recreation Center has a milestone birthday in July 2015. It marks one hundred years of service to the citizens of San Diego.

The City of San Park and Recreation Department and the La Jolla Parks and Recreation, Inc. cordially invite you to join us in celebrating this significant achievement. The event takes place on July 25th at the historic recreation center designed by architect Irving Gill.

Free Summer Lunch Program

The San Diego Park and Recreation Department is proud to partner with the San Diego Unified School District and the South Bay Union School District to offer a free lunch program to children ages 18 years and younger.

Free lunch and snacks will be available during summer break starting June 15 at select recreation centers.

One of the most awesome skateboard parks in Southern California, Robb Field is the first skateboard park constructed and operated by the City of San Diego, was designed with input from top local skateboarders.

Founded in 1942, the Civic Dance Arts Program of the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department has introduced hundreds of thousands of citizens to the art form of dance. Classes are currently offered at many City recreation centers at affordable prices.
