Washington, D.C. – Announcing that San Diego will help lead a national campaign to honor and support those who care for service members and veterans, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer today joined former Sen. Elizabeth Dole, actor Tom Hanks, former Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw, U.S. Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald and dozens of military and veterans’ caregivers to launch “Hidden Heroes.”

Mayor Faulconer in Washington to Advocate for Key San Diego Initiatives, Launch New Program Supporting Veteran Caregivers

San Diego – Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer is in Washington, D.C. this week to advocate for federal support for critical San Diego issues such as homelessness, affordable housing, water independence and continued binational collaboration. He will also join stars from Washington and Hollywood to launch a new initiative designed to raise awareness and support for caregivers of veterans and active-duty service members. The Mayor is joining about 130 local leaders in the nation’s capital as part of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual mission to D.C.

San Diego – Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer celebrated the grand re-opening of San Diego County’s largest reservoir today.

The San Vicente Reservoir first opened to the public in 1947 but has been closed to the since 2008 while the San Diego County Water Authority and the City of San Diego increased the reservoir’s capacity and made significant improvements to the site.

Mayor Faulconer Opens First Wheelchair-Accessible Hiking Trail in San Diego

The new “Jas Arnold Trail for All People” is a 1,100-foot flat loop in the Black Mountain Ranch Open Space Park that will be accessible for the elderly, young children and people with mobility challenges.
