Refuse Disposal Fees

New disposal rate fees! Disposal rate fees for refuse will increase by $16 per ton based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) effective July 1, 2023.

Refuse disposal fees charged at the Miramar Landfill are based on the type of vehicle hauling the waste, the type of waste, the net weight of loads and whether the waste is generated within the City of San Diego. This information is used as a reference and is not intended to be the final determination for any load that requires special processing.

Cars, pickup trucks and small trailers are charged standard disposal fees that are assessed as "flat rates" depending on the type of waste disposed of and where it was generated.

Additional fees will be charged for:

  • Oversized, overweight or uncovered loads.
  • Extra processing by City staff. 
  • Returned checks.

NEW Fiscal Year 2024 Fee Schedule and Regulations for the Miramar Landfill

Refuse Hauling

  • No hand unloads after 4 p.m.
  • All CRTs, TVs, appliances, universal waste, electronic waste, and household hazardous materials must be properly disposed of before entering the landfill.
  • All loads must be covered. Fee for uncovered loads: $5 to $10.
  • During inclement weather, vehicle restrictions may occur.

Payment Information

The Miramar Landfill and Greenery accepts business and personal checks (preferred method of payment), all major credit cards, debit cards with a VISA or MasterCard logo (and matching ID) and Deferred Payment Accounts (DPA).

Customers interested in participating in the DPA program may do so by establishing an account online through Deferred Payment Account services. Accounts established will be required to open a deferred payment account or outgoing material deferred payment account for a minimum surety bond amount of $250. New customers may anticipate a new account number and ability to use the landfill one to two business days after completed application is received. 

Please note, weighed loads will require a check deposit.
