Sidewalks and Infrastructure Improvements on the South Side of Market Street

Council President Cole with City of San Diego staff from Street Division and Transportation & Storm Water Departments after the construction of the sidewalks and infrastructure improvements on the south side of Market Street were finished.  The south side project began in January 2016 and was completed early March of 2017.  The project improvements include approximately 3,700 linear feet of sidewalks, driveways, curb ramps, new streetlights, and improved pedestrian crossing to the Valencia Park/Malcolm X Branch Library.

Year of Solidarity

On February 27, 2017, Council President Cole alongside Councilmember Gomez, proudly proclaimed 2017 to be the Year of Solidarity in the City of San Diego.  The City of San Diego recognizes that the inclusion of all San Diego’s diverse communities in civic conversation and decision making process is an integral part in shaping our region’s future.

Construction of the Villa Encantada Apartments

On February 23, 2017, Council President Cole joined partners at the construction site for the Villa Encantada Apartments, an affordable transit oriented development that will provide 67 high quality apartment homes conveniently located near the Encanto/62nd Street MTS trolley station.

Renaming Benson Avenue to Pastor Timothy J. Winters Street

On February 5, 2017, Council President Cole was joined by Mayor Faulconer, Chief Shelley Zimmerman, and many community members to unveil the street name change from Benson Avenue to Pastor Timothy J. Winters Street in front of Bayview Baptist Church.  The unveil was the final result of a three year collaboration with Bayview Baptist Church, the Winters family, and the Encanto community.
