Council President Myrtle Cole was sworn in as a member of the San Diego City Council on December 10, 2013. She is the first African-American woman elected to serve on the City Council as the first woman to represent the Fourth Council District. Myrtle has worked in the Fourth District since 1977 and has lived in the community for more than 20 years.

Victor Brown is a recent graduate of UCSD. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and minored in African-American studies. In addition to his academic pursuits, Victor was involved with several on-campus organizations, including serving as vice chair of the UCSD Black Student Union.
