Page and Stage: The Power of the Iliad Today (PDF: 78K)
New York's Aquila Theatre presents a free live performance of Homer's Iliad: Book One on Sunday, March 15th at 4:00 pm. A discussion follows the performance.

Actors from Aquila Theatre guide an acting workshop exploring how a classical performance text develops from the page to the stage on Sunday March 15th at 2:30 pm.

Programs are part of a nationwide program series, Page and Stage: The Power of the Iliad Today linking libraries and the performing arts. Sponsored by National Endowment for the Humanities.

Tell Your Community Story at Library's Digital Storytelling Station at the Central Library (PDF:26K) The program has been extended, record your stories on three-to-five minute DVDs through June 2008.
Library to Launch “Youth Voices” Program to Preserve Stories of Barrio Logan and Logan Heights (PDF:115K)
The Library, in conjunction with the Media Arts Center of San Diego’s Teen Producers Project, is set to launch a new program to document and preserve local stories in the Barrio Logan and Logan Heights neighborhoods of San Diego. Entitled “Youth Voices,” the one-year digital storytelling project will help sustain, support, celebrate and maintain community identity and pride in an area that is widely regarded as a spiritual center for Latino civic engagement.
