During the COVID-19 pandemic, City employees whose normal job duties were disrupted due to closures of beaches, parks and libraries, stepped up to help out at the emergency homeless shelter at the San Diego Convention Center. City Library staff filled vital roles in assisting homeless individuals with filling out applications for stimulus payments or benefits enrollments and in the medical hall with directing them to medical services or COVID-19 testing.
