Troy is one of many San Diegans who has experienced homelessness. He spent 10 years on the streets and always thought that he would be able to lift himself out of homelessness. Finally, in January 2020, he accepted help after being hospitalized for medical issues. People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) Connections Housing was able to offer him an interim housing bed and he later got into a permanent home at The Link, a newly-constructed permanent supportive housing complex in East Village. His story showcases how with a little support individuals can end their cycle of homelessness.
