New sidewalk construction on Elm Avenue, 16th Street and Evergreen Street in the South Bay fills in the gaps where there weren't previously any sidewalks in this community. This project is being built by in-house City crews and uses Community Development Block Grant Funds to build new sidewalks, gutters and ADA curb ramps.
Sidewalks make it easier and safer for residents to move around their neighborhood, they improve pedestrian access to transit stops, promote walking and public transit as viable alternative modes of transportation, and improve traffic safety for all modes of transportation.
