25TH ANNUAL BARRIO LOGAN GRAND PRIX
$10,000 Prize List + Primes!

Join in the thrill of fast-paced bicycle racing by pro racers, top-level amateurs and a fun children's cycling event at the Barrio Logan Grand Prix, one of Southern California's largest cycling events. The race is open to men and women of all ages, from professional and Olympic level cyclists to first-time racers.

The 0.8-mile race course takes place in historic downtown Barrio Logan and will begin and end on Newton Avenue across from Perkins Elementary School. Spectators will have access to numerous views of the racers along city streets in the Barrio Logan area throughout the day.

There will also be a free Kids Zone for youth participants offering free helmets and an opportunity to participate in a bicycle safety rodeo.

All racers 21+ up will receive a ticket to present at Thorn Brewing Co. for a free taster at the Barrio Logan Grand Prix after-party located at 1745 National Ave.

This year, Casa Familiar celebrates its 49th year as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the community of San Ysidro and low-income individuals with the mission to enhance quality of life for low income individuals and families through Advocacy, Social Services, Education, Affordable Housing, Arts and Culture, a Community and Economic Development.

In light of recent events and our continued dedication to the fight for equity for all, we reshaped our Annual Abrazo Awards to focus on community and movement building to advance the movement towards justice and equity for communities like San Ysidro, and celebrate community champions and leaders who advance that movement.  

To prioritize the health and safety of all, we are planning a hybrid virtual and socially distanced 5k walk. We invite you to join us in whatever way you feel comfortable, in your neighborhood, on the treadmill, or alongside us in the heart of San Ysidro while following the County safety guidelines for COVID-19.

The Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial will honor Marine Corps Major Megan McClung, and our nation’s heroes through a live and virtual tribute event on 30 May 2021 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (PDT) streamed at: www.memorialdaylive.com.

McClung was the first female Marine officer to be killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom, as well as the first female graduate of the United States Naval Academy to be killed in action since the school was founded in 1845.

The live and online commemoration will be again hosted by former News Anchor Marc Bailey, memorable Memorial Day video messages, musical performances, a wreath laying, and missing-man flyby.

The Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial is one of the most unique veterans’ memorials in the Nation and stands high on La Jolla’s Mt. Soledad, offering panoramic views of San Diego County. It is the only Memorial that honors veterans, living or deceased, from the Revolutionary War to the current war on terrorism, with an image of the veteran. More than 5,400 individual veteran tributes, embedded on black granite plaques, are mounted onto 11 curved walls honoring our United States veterans.

The Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial is located at 6905 La Jolla Scenic Drive South, La Jolla, CA 92037 and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
